Privacy policy

The short version
Speak Like Natives is a static website. There are no accounts, no sign-up forms, and no advertising trackers. We don't ask for your personal information, and we don't sell anything you give us.
Who is responsible
The data controller for this site is its operator, T.B. Pearson, based in Spain and reachable at hola@speaklikenatives.com. Where we process anything at all, the legal basis is legitimate interest (keeping the site running and secure) or, for email you send us, taking steps you've requested.
What we store on your device
One thing: your light/dark theme preference, kept in your browser's local storage. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it. We do not set tracking cookies.
Server logs
The site is served through Amazon Web Services (CloudFront). Like virtually all web hosting, AWS keeps standard access logs — IP address, pages requested, browser type, and timestamps — which we use only to keep the site running and diagnose problems. These logs are retained for a limited period and are not combined with any other data. AWS acts as our processor; as a global CDN it may handle requests outside the EEA, under the safeguards AWS provides for such transfers (the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses).
If you email us at hola@speaklikenatives.com, we receive your address and whatever you send. We use it only to reply and never add you to any list without asking.
External links
The site links to external services — most notably Amazon, where our books are sold. Once you follow such a link, that site's own privacy policy applies. If we ever join an affiliate program that pays us a commission on those links, we will say so clearly on this page and in the site footer.
Analytics
We currently run no analytics. If we add a web-analytics tool in the future, we will choose a privacy-respecting option, describe here exactly what it collects, and update the date at the top of this page.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Given how little we collect, the honest answer to an access request will usually be "an email you sent us, if any" — but ask anytime at contact. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (aepd.es).
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version appears here with an updated date. Material changes (like adding analytics) will be noted explicitly.
