Season 2 opens with a video call from Madrid: Diego's mother has bought a ticket to Mexico City. Between a secret trip to a jewelry shop, a spice-training program and a fonda-wide cleaning operation, Diego learns that some arrivals cannot be scheduled — not even ahorita.

The Story So Far
Season 1 ended with the fonda saved, a five-year contract, and Grandma Chela asking Diego to teach her “lo de las croquetas”. Season 2 opens with a phone call from Madrid: Diego’s mother, Doña Pilar, has bought her ticket and lands on Friday — which gives Diego five days to clean a fonda, train two families in each other’s customs, and hide an engagement ring in a toolbox.
Language Highlights
- que + subjunctive for third-party commands — “que venga la señora”: how Spanish orders around people who aren’t in the room.
- antes de que + subjunctive — “antes de que se me adelante tu tía Encarna”: “before” clauses always take the subjunctive when they look forward.
