The Scene

Every phrase here is the real thing — this scene is adapted from the “Eating out” chapter of the book, which walks through the whole evening in far more detail.
Vocabulary Highlights
- hueco — a free slot or opening; what the restaurant checks for when you call to book.
- ¿ya sabéis? — the standard waiter’s “ready to order?”, literally “do you know yet?”
